Cub Foods Donates $10,000 to Allina Heart Safe Communities Program.

Funds to be used locally for Allina's support of national Take Heart America campaign

MINNEAPOLIS -- Cub Foods has made a $10,000 donation to Allina Hospitals & Clinics' Heart Safe Communities program, to help fund Take Heart America, a national initiative to improve the odds of those who suffer sudden cardiac arrest. Take Heart America brings together a wide variety of approaches that have been shown to help increase survival - from training people in CPR and automatic defibrillator use to working with doctors, paramedics and hospital personnel on advanced resuscitation techniques and post-resuscitation care. In Minnesota, Take Heart America programs have been implemented in St. Cloud. Locally, Cub Foods' donation will enable the program expansion in Anoka County.

Cub Foods and Allina first joined forces earlier this year when Allina's Heart Safe Communities program facilitated the installation of Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) in 75 Cub Foods stores throughout the region. Allina Medical Transportation trained employees in every store in basic CPR skills as well as AED administration. Since February, Cub Foods stores have been named "Heart Safe."

"For Cub, the installation of the AEDs resulted from a customer being saved in our local New Brighton store. Nothing is more important than the customers we serve each and every day."
