Cub Foods Celebrates Local Community Pride with Cub Create Your Community Contest; Artists of All Ages Are Encouraged to Get Inspired.

, Minn. -- Artists of all ages are encouraged to show their community spirit during the first ever Cub Create Your Community art contest, sponsored by Cub Foods Cub Foods is a grocery store chain with eighty-four stores in Minnesota, Iowa, Northern and Central Illinois, Wisconsin, and the Miami Valley in Ohio. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based Supervalu.  - the store next door.

Participants are encouraged to create a work of art with Cub paper grocery bags that reflects the community where their Cub store is located. One winner from each store will receive $250 in Cub Foods gift cards. A grand-prize winner, selected from among the individual store winners, will receive free groceries gro·cer·y

 artists may pick up detailed contest rules and free paper grocery bags at their nearest Cub Foods location. The primary building material for all entries must be Cub Foods paper grocery bags. All entries must use at least one Cub Foods paper grocery bag and can incorporate a maximum of 50 bags. Plastic bags may not be used as part of the entry. The Cub Foods logo must also appear at least once in each artistic impression. The contest runs from May 15 to June 11, 2005. Winners will be informed the week of June 20, 2005.

Cub Foods, one of the first discount food stores in the country, established the original concept of "Consumers United for Buying" in 1968. In 1980, SUPERVALU bought Cub Foods and expanded it from five stores to 52 stores in the Twin Cities.
