Cable Satisfaction International Inc. (Csii), through its Portuguese subsidiary Cabovisao, is pleased to announce that it recorded a 15.4 % increase in the number of subscribers in the second quarter of 2000, reaching 74,420 as at June 30, 2000 compared to 64,497 as at March 31, 2000.

The penetration rate increased to 27.8 % compared to 27.2 % in the first quarter of the year. During the same period, the number of homes passed rose by 30,951 to reach 267,929, a 13.1 % increase.

The number of subscribers to the high-speed Internet See broadband.  service recently launched in Palmela and Aveiro reached 1,542 as at June 30, 2000, compared to 549 as at March 31, 2000, a 180.9 % increase. Cabovisao will soon be offering high-speed Internet access in other regions of Portugal, including Beja, Castelo Branco, Belmonte, Caldas, Seia and Sines. In addition, having obtained its license, Cabovisao is currently preparing to launch telephony services in the fall of 2000.

) networks and, through its subsidiary Cabovisao, provides cable television services and high-speed Internet access in Portugal, where it will also be offering telephony and high-speed transmission data services. Cabovisao is building a national fiber optics fiber optics, transmission of digitized messages or information by light pulses along hair-thin glass fibers. Each fiber is surrounded by a cladding having a high index of refractance so that the light is internally reflected and travels the length of the fiber  backbone to offer all the services of the new digital economy throughout Portugal.
