MOTHERWELL boss Mark McGhee yesterday hit back at Csaba Laszlo after the Hearts manager slaughtered both teams following Wednesday night's SPL clash.

The Fir Park side won 1-0 but it was an encounter low in excitement and incident with the Hungarian insisting he felt sorry for both sets of fans because of the poor standard of football on show.

McGhee disagrees and said: "I want to go on record to say I took exception to his criticism of our performance.

Fee "He can say what he likes about his own side but I was totally content with the way we played."

McGhee insisted he would rather miss out on a pounds 150,000 transfer fee to keep top scorer Chris Porter at the club until the end of the campaign than see him leave this month.

But he added: "It's like when Ross McCormack was going to go to Nottingham Forest last season. I helped him get to Cardiff which I thought was a better move for him.

"If Chris is going to go and I can't do anything about it, then I'll help him.

"We are prepared to help him because he came here two years ago and that was the deal."
