Virgin Retail (UK) Ltd. Creates a Multi-Store, Web-Based Reporting

System to Increase Sales and Reduce Costs.

Crystal Decisions Crystal Decisions today announces the successful integration of Seagate Info within Virgin's store-based reporting system.

It is used by all 92 Virgin stores throughout the UK and Ireland -enabling employees to access analyzed company data easily via the web. Virgin expects this system to influence sales positively and reduce costs.

Virgin believes that providing each store with instant sales and performance data enables its employees to make smarter purchasing decisions. Improved reporting will also allow Virgin to anticipate changes in demand-ensuring optimum stocking levels. As well as supporting more effective decisions, the efficiency of the new system will make it possible for employees to concentrate more on customer service.

Kevin Hepburn, MIS Team Leader, for Virgin Retail (UK) Ltd., says: "Staff can now view national and regional statistics and monitor products or promotions in their own stores. This allows them to react quickly to trends, see how effective a particular offer is and also see how they are performing against other stores."

Mr Hepburn explains: "Our objective in this project was to deploy a store-based on-line reporting solution via our secure intranet. In the past we had basic-looking, inflexible reports that were taking a considerable amount of time to produce and distribute. Now daily reports can be viewed instantly via the web in each store and the IT department can deliver another service for the business."

Donald MacCormick, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) Refers to that region of the world. For example, one might see products packaged differently for the UK, EMEA and Asia Pacific markets.  Director at Crystal Decisions, says: "A key issue for any business, whatever sector it operates in, is to get the most out of its data. By providing actionable information to staff, that is easy to access and simple to understand, a company can enable better stock management, improve customer relationships and, ultimately, increase company profits."
