Crusoe Processor Receives Consumer Electronics Show Award.

Transmeta Corporation's Crusoe processor An x86-based CPU chip from Transmeta that is designed for Internet appliances and other handheld devices that require batteries. It consumes significantly less power than mobile x86 chips from Intel, AMD and others because it places more of the processing burden on the software.  has been named as a Best of Show award winner in the Innovations 2001 Computer Hardware and Software category at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. Transmeta is at the Consumer Electronics Show displaying new products utilizing its software-based Crusoe processor, including a newly announced integrated computer display from Philips Components. The product, called the Net Display Module, is targeted for Web slates, tablets, pads and other mobile computing Using a computing device while in transit. Mobile computing implies wireless transmission, but wireless transmission does not necessarily imply mobile computing. Fixed wireless applications use satellites, radio systems and lasers to transmit between permanent objects such as buildings  devices. It will be used in Philips' products and will be offered by Philips for use in computer devices from other manufacturers.
