In some countries such as Canada, Australia and England, able-bodied athletes are allowed to compete alongside other athletes on mixed teams. Academy are planning a major development this season by entering a mixed team of adults and juniors in Division Three of the GBWBA GBWBA Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball Association . And the club, who welcome new members as young as six, are hoping that they will also be able to compete in the national junior league by the 2010/11 season. They currently have 30 regular players competing in two Thursday evening sessions - 6-7.30pm for new and junior players and 7.30-9pm for improvers and team members - and aim to raise that total to 100 within the next two years. Paul Claridge has been the academy coach since their merger with the Crusaders, drawing on his 21 years of playing experience, and members of Dip Donaldson's National League side also help out whenever possible.
