The Wall Street Transcript A generic term for any kind of copy, particularly an official or certified representation of the record of what took place in a court during a trial or other legal proceeding.

He says, "Crown Vantage is among the largest companies focused almost exclusively on marketing specialty paper products. Our 1998 revenues were approximately $850 million generated by 10 pulp and paper mills with a million tons of capacity for making specialized spe·cial·ize

papers for printing, publishing and packaging. Eight of them are located in the U.S., and we have two in Scotland. We employ about 3,500 people worldwide."

He explains, "We were created in a spin-off The situation that arises when a parent corporation organizes a subsidiary corporation, to which it transfers a portion of its assets in exchange for all of the subsidiary's capital stock, which is subsequently transferred to the parent corporation's shareholders.  in August of 1995. At the time, we had about 4,200 people and just a little over $1 billion in sales. Since that time we've put in place the systems needed to operate as a corporation and developed strategies to optimize optimize - optimisation  our assets. We have done an excellent job of both controlling costs and rationalizing our manufacturing operations Manufacturing operations concern the operation of a facility, as opposed to maintenance, supply and distribution, health, and safety, emergency response, human resources, security, information technology and other infrastructural support organizations.  and product lines."

He states, "We are trying to differentiate ourselves from the rest of the industry by focusing in on specialty markets and niches. On the other side of our business, the goal that we have is to find product solutions to packaging or converting problems that most of our customers have."

Looking forward, he states, "In both areas, we are among the first in our industry to really focus on our value-added brands as assets rather than simply products. As a result, we're shifting our company from a manufacturing to a marketing focus and exploring new outsourcing (1) Contracting with outside consultants, software houses or service bureaus to perform systems analysis, programming and datacenter operations. Contrast with insourcing. See netsourcing, ASP, SSP and facilities management.  and supply chain relationships to help make that happen. We see a lot of industry consolidation, with the commodity producers getting larger."
