Crown Media Contracts With AMERICOM for Next Generation Service; AMC-11 Will Be Home for Hallmark Channel.

SES AMERICOM announced today that Los Angeles-based Crown Media United States, LLC (Logical Link Control) See "LANs" under data link protocol.

It receives a microwave signal from earth (uplink), amplifies it and retransmits it back to earth at a different frequency (downlink). Planned for operation in 2004 as a replacement for Satcom C-3, AMC-11 will be used for the distribution of Crown Media's Hallmark Channel, a service that provides a diverse slate of high-quality, family-friendly entertainment to a national audience of more than 43 million American households.

AMC-11, an all C-band next generation satellite planned for operation in 2004, will have 24 transponders and will be located at 131 degrees W.L. To further ensure the delivery of customers' programming, AMC-11 features a higher level of on-board redundancy than the previous generation. Plus, an in-orbit protection satellite, AMC-7, which is operated at 137 degrees West, is available if necessary for full satellite restoration. Programmers can use AMC-11 and its neighborhood partner, AMC-10, to reach over 80 million homes. Already committed to AMC-10 and 11 are Viacom, C-SPAN, CourtTV, iN DEMAND, Lifetime Entertainment, Scripps and The Weather Channel.
