He is best known for playing for other artists (most notably Billy Idol and Vince Neil) and less known, but critically acclaimed for his solo efforts
 as president and chief executive officer.

It is expected that this recommendation will be favorably acted upon by Crown's board of directors at its regularly scheduled meeting next week. Crown Books was founded in the Washington, D.C.
 since June of 1994. Since October 1, 1994, Stevens has held the position of senior executive vice president and chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

. He succeeds Ronald S. Haft, Crown's acting president, who resigned as part of an overall settlement with the company and its parent, Dart Group Corp.

Stevens joined Crown Books on June 1, 1994 as the senior vice president and general merchandise manager. Prior to joining Crown Books, Stevens held executive positions at Portico Bed and Bath Ltd., Quartermaine Coffee Roasters Inc. and Circuit City Stores Inc.

Stevens also acknowledged the appointments of Marc Joseph as senior vice president and general merchandise manager and Donald Pilch as vice president and chief financial officer. Joseph's responsibilities will include all aspects of merchandising, marketing and advertising, while Pilch will handle all accounting and financial issues. Prior to joining Crown Books Joseph was senior vice president of Action Industries Inc. an importer and wholesaler to the retail trade. Joseph has also served in executive positions in both the department store and discount variety store industries. Pilch was the director of financial planning Financial planning

Pilch has also served in executive positions at May Department Stores The May Department Stores Company was a department store chain founded in 1877 by David May in Leadville, Colorado. Its headquarters moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 1905, and the company went public in 1911.  and G. Fox and Company. Pilch replaces Robert A. Marmon, a management consultant and turnaround specialist. Marmon identified the need for a full-time CFO See Chief Financial Officer.  at Crown and assisted in the recruitment of Pilch. Marmon will retain the title of vice president and treasurer of Crown.

In announcing the appointments Stevens said, "Marc and Don bring to Crown a natural love of books and a wide variety of wholesale and retail experience which will help us to continue to enhance our offering of value to our customers."

Crown currently operates 173 book stores, including 77 Super Crown stores in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area; California; Houston; Chicago; and Seattle.
