Keith Hammer has been appointed vice president and chief information officer and Anne Levinton has been appointed assistant vice president of Human Resources The fancy word for "people." Crown Books was founded in the Washington, D.C.
 in December of 1994 and has served as the company's assistant vice president and director of information systems. Hammer previously served as a director of MIS for Circuit City Stores Inc.

Levinton also joined Crown Books in December of 1994 and has served as the company's director of Training and Human Resources. Levinton previously served as the manager of Human Resources for the IMPULSE division of Circuit City Stores Inc.

Both Hammer and Levinton will report to Steve Stevens, the company's president and chief executive officer.

Crown Books currently operates 174 book stores including 85 Super Crown stores in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area; California, Houston, Chicago and Seattle.
