A force on the New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 dance scene since 1995, DancenOw/NYC brings downtown dance, in all its diverse funkiness, to fresh audiences. The festival kicks off the season each September September: see month. , presenting works of seven minutes or less. In the past, performance spaces have included everything from a drained swimming pool to the grounds of the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, but this year's shows remain on familiar territory: Dance Theater Workshop Dance Theater Workshop is a New York City performance space and service organization for dance companies. Located on West 19th Street in the Chelsea section of Manhattan, DTW was founded in 1965 by Jeff Duncan, Art Bauman and Jack Moore as a choreographers' collective.  and Joe's Pub Joe's Pub is a cabaret located in The Public Theater complex at 425 Lafayette Street in lower Manhattan. It debuted in October 1998 and quickly became one of New York City's most celebrated and in-demand showcase venues for live music and performance. . The series showcases more than 85 dancemakers, including Katie Martin (right), Gina Gibney, and Larry Keigwin. Sept. 6-16. See www.dancenownyc.org.
