Now their voices will be heard on stage in Manchester during a major new production of Shakespeare's The Tempest, featuring top actor Pete Postlethwaite. Composer Arun Gosht was commissioned to compose a new piece of music to feature in the Royal Exchange's production of The Tempest which opens on May 23 and is directed by Greg Hersov. Last month, the choir recorded the piece and they have been invited to attend a performance of the play in Manchester to hear the recording in its proper context. Before all of that, the Singers have a busy schedule to keep up. The concert in St Paul's of the Rossini piece involved singers from the Reigate Grammar School Parents and Friends Music Society from Surrey. This twinning arrangement between the two sets of singers has come about through personal contacts within the two choirs and this weekend, the Singers make the return trip to Surrey for the second leg of the twinning venture. They will be reunited with the Reigate Grammar School Parents and Friends Music Society to perform Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle at Holy Trinity Church Holy Trinity Church, or variations on the name, may refer to: Churches In Australia:
There they will meet up with their new friends, who greatly enjoyed their short stay in Huddersfield, and should have an opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the North Downs. And if all of that were not enough, the Singers can be heard in concert back on home ground in Huddersfield on June 16 when they will give their summer concert at St Barnabas' Church, Crosland Moor. |
