A BUMPER STICKER PROCLAIMING the Second Coming of Christ reminds the reader to look busy. Its humor implies that being Christian requires the hard work of doing good--or at least approximating that appearance.

James Ensor's Christ's Entry into Brussels in 1889, a huge painting measuring over 8 feet high and 14 feet wide, gives the impression that people have indeed been busy. Someone organized an enormous parade, and others installed advertisements and banners. Still others put up a reviewing stand and convinced the important people of Brussels to attend. Someone had to apply for the proper permits and notify the media. What a logistical nightmare!
