Crowd-puller hits the road.


A MAJOR North Northumberland crowd-puller starts this Sunday when artists taking part in the ever popular Art Tour will be opening their studio doors to visitors for the 13th year in succession.

This is the foremost open studio event in the region, is free and reaches from Alnwick to Berwick, Amble amble

has many characteristics of the amble but there are four beats to the gait with each foot contacting the ground independently. Called also single-foot.
 to Allendale, Mor-peth to Haydon Bridge Haydon Bridge is a small village in Northumberland in England, with a population of around 2000 people. Its most distinctive features are its two bridges, both crossing the River Tyne, one the picturesque original bridge for which the village was named, now restricted to pedestrian .

This year there are 47 venues to visit from studios, workshops, homes and garden sheds and 75 artists to meet.

Studios will open their doors throughout the county each Sunday in June and the first Sunday in July and, for the first time, over the weekend of July 12 and 13. Over the years the tour has attracted almost 100,000 visitors. The chairman of the Art Tour steering group, Richard Walker, says: "We are again delighted with the number and variety of artists taking part.

"Last summer more than 11,000 members of the public enjoyed the Art Tour and artists sold pounds 112,000 worth of work. With the added impetus of sponsorship from Lazy Grace, we are expecting this year to be better than ever."

, textile artists, glass artists, potters, printmakers and photographers all taking part.

The Art Tour not only gives people the opportunity to buy or commission a piece of original art, it lets visitors see how artists work, where they create their art, learn about their inspiration and gives them the opportunity to discuss general or specific artwork with the artists.

There are also a series of workshops running during the Art Tour so if you fancy turning your hand to art, then you can.

, a landscape photographer from Hexham, will be joining the Art Tour for the first time this year. "I'm very excited. This event is now a very popular part of Northumberland's cultural and social calendar, and it's great to be part of this bigger picture, especially as I am only just starting out," he says.

"I'm really looking forward to meeting the visitors and being able to chat to them about my work."
