Crovitz Named Vice President of Dow Jones & Company.NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 10, 1997--Dow Jones & Company announced today that L. Gordon Crovitz Louis Gordon Crovitz is the publisher of The Wall Street Journal and executive vice-president of Dow Jones. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Chicago. has been named vice president, planning and development, a new post, effective immediately. The announcement was made by Peter R. Kann, chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. , and Kenneth L. Burenga, president and COO of Dow Jones. In his new role, Crovitz will work with Messrs. Kann and Burenga and other executives to identify new business strategies and opportunities for Dow Jones as a whole, and for major business units. Since 1996, Crovitz, 39, had been managing director of Dow Jones Markets for the Asia Pacific region, based in Hong Kong. He will be succeeded in this post by Bill Reidy, who had previously served as his deputy. From 1992 to 1996 Mr. Crovitz served in Hong Kong as editor and publisher of Dow Jones' Far Eastern Economic Review, the leading magazine of Asian business. During his tenure at the Review, circulation rose 17% while advertising pages also increased 17%, and the magazine posted record profits. Earlier, Crovitz worked as assistant editor on The Wall Street Journal editorial page and as editorial page editor of The Wall Street Journal Europe.
