Crouch is axed from England squad again.

Former Portsmouth teammates David James David James may refer to:
  • David James (footballer) (born 1970), a Portsmouth and England goalkeeper
  • David James, Baron James of Blackheath, a British corporate trouble-shooter, former chairman of the Millennium Dome, and author of the Conservative Party's James Report
and Peter Crouch were last night both left out of Fabio Capello's latest England squad.

However, while it was confirmed James had been left out due to a knee injury that he has still not quite recovered from, despite his appearance for Portsmouth against Rangers yesterday afternoon, Crouch's position would appear easy to assess.

Capello has never been completely won over by the striker's attributes and it seemed to be more of a case of 'needs must' when Crouch was picked to face Ukraine in April.

Crouch did earn another start against Andorra once Emile Heskey Emile William Ivanhoe Heskey[6] (born January 11 1978 in Leicester, England)[1] is an English footballer. Earlier this week, Crouch claimed he would score the goals at Tottenham that would guarantee him a place in the squad for South Africa next year.

Yet the 28-year-old is already aware he might need injuries to affect others for him to claim a place in Capello's 23-man squad.

But, there is no reason to assume James will not be handed an instant recall for next month's friendly against Slovenia, which precedes a World Cup encounter with Croatia that could confirm England's place in the final 32.
