FRANK C. BRANCHINI Edgewater, Md. Once again, From the Editors in the September 26 issue has managed to both annoy and puzzle me. OK, I admit that I remain extremely naive, thinking editors and reporters only want to report the truth. I am naive to think that my source of choice for gay and lesbian news would strive for a fairly balanced editorial viewpoint. The attack with words on "sore loser" Joe Lieberman struck me as odd. Why? Because he has been one of Bush's "fiercest Democratic allies on the Iraqi war as well as energy, taxes, and judicial nominations"? Is this the official position of The Advocate? what if every gay person does not agree with your position and also supports those issues? what if some gay people admire the integrity shown by the HRC by sticking with a candidate they've previously endorsed? Is your sole agenda to hate Bush? So it would seem. You don't think the HRC has a right to support an independent candidate who has built a decent record on gay rights, only because he has previously agreed with Bush? Is the Democratic Party the only political party with issues to consider? Is this magazine a one-issue publication? It doesn't matter to the editors whether Lieberman is supportive of gay rights. It only matters that he has supported some of the president's issues. Wow, what kind of testament is that to the journalists of what is supposed to be the premier publication for gay and lesbian news! Thanks.
