But Keys's widow is certain that Hampton is reformed and innocent, and she hires Sarah Booth to find the real killer. Complications arise as Sarah Booth becomes romantically involved with the reformed Hampton and attempts to disentangle herself from the sheriff.

Reader Forbes delivers smoothly in multivoice with comforting Southern accents. She has the remarkable ability to slide into singing and croons several tunes with skill. Steamy adult situations, themes of racism, mostly likeable like·a·ble
