Nigel Machin has been appointed President of the Enterprise Products Division reporting to CrossComm's Board of Directors. Machin has been an employee at CrossComm since the company's inception and was instrumental during the company's six years of record growth in his role at the time as Vice President of Sales. More recently, he has been involved in engineering, product marketing and strategic sales.

due to new high bandwidth applications. These customers require solutions to upgrade their networks with higher speed backbones allowing them the opportunity to connect to high speed client server applications.

"While Ethernet users have technology available to them such as Ethernet Switching and Gigabit Ethernet An Ethernet standard that transmits at 1 Gbps. Used mostly to connect high-end workstations and servers as well as for network backbones, Gigabit Ethernet transmits full duplex from point to point using switches and half duplex in a shared environment (CSMA/CD) using a hub.  to give users high speed access, Token Ring A local area network (LAN) access method developed by IBM. Conforming to the IEEE 802.5 standard, Token Ring uses a token ring access method and connects up to 255 nodes in a star topology at 4, 16 or 100 Mbps.  users do not have the same options," said Machin. "ATM is the most logical path for Token Ring users to gain high speed access allowing them to deploy modern client server and Intranet business applications."

The Most Comprehensive ATM Backbone Solution

The CrossLAN Exchange is the most comprehensive solution for combining edge routing and ATM switching in a common platform. CrossLAN Exchange allows a cohesive, non-disruptive way to access high speed services -- such as Intranets -- over an ATM backbone giving customers the ability to add the benefits of ATM throughput to their high capacity servers while still maintaining their existing network infrastructure. The CrossLAN Exchange allows access to users of both Token Ring and Ethernet LANs, and also provides access for remote users who are connected to the original network via WANs or through the public Internet.

CrossComm's CrossLAN Exchange is designed to operate in multi-vendor, mission-critical networks as well as provide redundancy and hot swapping (hardware) hot swapping - The connection and disconnection of peripherals or other components without interrupting system operation. It supports the most advanced ATM Forum A membership organization founded in 1991 to promote ATM networking technology. It worked with ANSI and the ITU to set standards. In 2004, the Forum merged with the MPLS and Frame Relay Alliance.  standards, and provides full interoperability with other networking vendors' products. It offers network managers the most highly integrated and cost effective method to build and manage high speed backbones.

Machin said "CrossComm has extensive experience in the Token Ring market which historically has been CrossComm's strength. Our organization's culture with IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. We have hundreds of Token Ring/SNA customers who have purchased from CrossComm over the last nine years. These will be the division's initial prime target."

New Management Team

Machin has chosen a new management team for the Enterprise Products Division. Steve Beason will continue in his role as Senior Vice President of Operations. Beason came to CrossComm four months ago. Prior to joining CrossComm. Beason worked at IBM where he held the position of Vice President, Business Process Engineering where he was responsible for division execution of all corporate-wide re-engineering projects.

Dave Zwicker will also continue in his role as Vice President of Marketing. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  sales, indirect channel sales and direct sales. He has a proven record of consistently meeting and exceeding sales expectations.

Alan McGibbon has been appointed Vice President of International Sales. McGibbon has been with CrossComm for five years where he most recently held the position of Director of International Sales. Under McGibbon's direction over the last two years, international sales grew from fifteen to the now thirty percent of CrossComm's revenue.
