Cross Gunter Witherspoon & Galchus: Little Rock.

The labor lawyers who founded Cross Gunter Witherspoon & Galchus are pioneers.

For one thing, they took a leap of faith when they moved their offices from the building then known as the TCBY TCBY The Country's Best Yogurt
TCBY This Can't Be Yogurt (original name)
TCBY Taking Care of Business, Ya'll
Tower to a renovated warehouse in the River Market in 1997.

"We could see the vision because we believe in taking those kinds of steps that are outside the norm and outside the box," partner Bruce Cross said.

The original partners had split from the disintegrating House Wallace Nelson Wallace Alexander Nelson (1856-1943) was the first member to represent Hannans under the Redistribution of Seats Bill in the Legislative Assembly in Western Australia from 1904 to 1905.  & Jewell firm and merged with the McGlinchey Stafford Lang firm of New Orleans New Orleans (ôr`lēənz –lənz, ôrlēnz`), city (2006 pop. 187,525), coextensive with Orleans parish, SE La., between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain, 107 mi (172 km) by water from the river mouth; founded . But after a half-dozen years of the big-firm pace, they cashed in their partnership interests and set up a shop where "there's more to life than the almighty dollar," Cross said.

That's another way Cross Gunter has been pioneering. Long before the trend showed up in The Wall Street Journal, CGWG CGWG Cross, Gunter, Witherspoon & Galchus, PC (law firm; Arkansas)  was negotiating alternatives to billable hours, using a team approach to work so clients aren't totally dependent on the availability of one lawyer, and making sure partners and staff have time to make civic contributions.

"Not only do you need to give great quality service to your clients, but you need to be able to make contributions to the community and also need to be a great family person," Cross said.

In the decade since the firm was founded, CGWG has also pioneered new areas of law as client needs have demanded. "What is labor and employment taw has expanded based upon the issues that have expanded. For instance, immigration immigration, entrance of a person (an alien) into a new country for the purpose of establishing permanent residence. Motives for immigration, like those for migration generally, are often economic, although religious or political factors may be very important.  work--if you look back 10 to 15 years ago, there wasn't a lot of work in those realms. But now it's a major issue.

"Health issues have also changed dramatically, with various insurance issues, HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act of 1996, Public Law 104-191) Also known as the "Kennedy-Kassebaum Act," this U.S. law protects employees' health insurance coverage when they change or lose their jobs (Title I) and provides standards for patient health, , what you can access and what you can't access. The lapse of twenty years raises a presumption of certain facts, and after such a time, the party against whom the presumption has been raised, will be required to prove a negative to establish his rights.
