 Jade Johnson Jade Johnson (born June 7, 1980) is an English athlete.

Specialising in long jump, she came second in the 2002 Commonwealth Games. Later she won the silver medal at the 2002 European Championships and finished fourth at the 2003 World Championships. Her personal best is 6.

Jade was taken to hospital after her knee "popped" at Saturday's dress rehearsal and pulled out of the live show on doctor's orders.

She was yesterday awaiting further medical advice.

A Strictly insider said: "Jade is absolutely heartbroken. She has put so much into the show.

"But contestants are only allowed to sit it out for one week, otherwise it is not fair on the others. If the doctors say she can't dance on Saturday, she'll have to give up her place.

"She is considering her position carefully as she also has her long-term sports career to think of and doesn't want to do anything to jeopardise that."

ABBC spokeswoman said: "We take the welfare of our contestants very seriously.

"We are awaiting medical advice but we hope Jade will be able to compete next week."
