Critical Path's Enterprise Messaging Solution Launched At Leading Bank in Italy.

Fax, Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam Services to SEP 

Critical Path (Nasdaq:CPTH), a world leader in Internet communications, announced today that SEP Servizi e Progetti SpA, a subsidiary of the San Paolo IMI Bank of Turin -- one of Italy's leading banking groups -- has successfully deployed its CP(TM) Messaging Server, combined with partner products, to provide email, fax, anti-virus and anti-spam services to more than 24,000 employees. Critical Path also announced that during the current quarter SEP purchased CP(TM) Calendar Server, which it plans to integrate soon as an additional service.

Numerous mergers and acquisitions over the past several years resulted in diverse email systems across its network of banks. Recognizing the need for a group-wide unified and integrated messaging solution, Gruppo Bancario San Paolo turned its subsidiary, SEP, into an internal Application Service Provider (ASP). Since January, Critical Path has migrated employees throughout the group of banks to its scalable, flexible and secure messaging solution. In a secondary phase, SEP plans to provide services to the group's internal and external corporate partners.

The nucleus of the new messaging system is Critical Path's CP Messaging Server, which today powers more than 150 million email boxes around the world and is widely recognized in the industry as offering the lowest total-cost-of-ownership. As the industry's most scalable and robust messaging solution, the CP Messaging Server is an extensible solution that can service large groups of users while simultaneously reducing the administration and management difficulties typically associated with large deployments. The Messaging Server supports standard messaging protocols, enabling end users to use leading email clients such as Microsoft Outlook(R).

SEP's fax solution -- available from Critical Path technology partner Mediagate -- enables end-users to send, receive and file faxes through their email box. Mediagate's iPost(TM) Unified Messaging in conjunction with Critical Path's Communications Platform provides end users with a unified communications system that consolidates email, voicemail, contacts, calendar and fax functionality into a single view.

Protection against unsolicited e-mails and viruses is provided by Brightmail, another Critical Path technology partner. Brightmail(R) Anti-Spam and Brightmail(R) Anti-Virus, which is powered by Symantec, together scan all messages passing through the mail server, using a server-based filtering system and 24-hour continuous Internet network monitoring.
