Crisis club won't Gret sympathy; Gretna v St Mirren END OF THE FAIRYTALE AS GRETNA GO INTO ADMINISTRATION.

GUS MacPHERSON has ordered his St Mirren players to forget about sympathy when they become the first side to face Gretna while they're in administration.

But the Buddies boss will spare a thought for the family of stricken Gretna owner Brooks Mileson.

MacPherson said: "I've no doubt that what's happened will bring their players closer together.

"They're also players who are now in the shop window and they'll want to do their best.

"I've told my players that their professionalism is judged every time they step out on to the park.

There is no such thing as an easy match and this one will be no different.

"But we should never forget that a family is suffering over the health of someone who is a father and a husband."

If administration turns to full-blown liquidation then arguments rage over whether the side that finishes second bottom of the SPL will be relegated in Gretna's place.

But MacPherson said: "The politics of the game are for our chairman Stewart Gilmour to discuss and he's had the good sense to get out of this miserable weather and go to Mauritius."

Meanwhile, Gretna midfielder Gavin Skelton admits focusing on this evening's clash will be no easy task.

He said: "It will be very difficult but you have to get on with it."

There will be an 11am pitch inspection.
