Criminals beware -- a key weapon against crime just became more potent; L.A. Cellular, We Tip and KNX Newsradio join forces for anonymous crime tip program.


LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 21, 1994--Robbers, taggers, arsonists, car thieves and drug dealers may think twice before committing their next crime, thanks to L.A. Cellular's new crime prevention partnership with the We Tip Program and KNX Newsradio.

This innovative new program provides an anonymous toll-free crime hotline for L.A. Cellular customers who may have information about a crime and want to report it to authorities without fear of reprisal reprisal, in international law, the forcible taking, in time of peace, by one country of the property or territory belonging to another country or to the citizens of the other country, to be held as a pledge or as redress in order to satisfy a claim. .

Hundreds of thousands of cellular phone users travel the streets and highways of Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Cellular's new anonymous prevention hotline will serve as an important weapon in the war against crime."

L.A. Cellular customers simply dial the "star" key, then WE TIP from their cellular phones and are automatically connected to a We Tip operator who will collect pertinent information on the reported crime. This information is immediately passed on to the appropriate law enforcement agencies A law enforcement agency (LEA) is a term used to describe any agency which enforces the law. This may be a local or state police, federal agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) or the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). , including police, sheriffs, fire departments, FBI and DEA DEA - Data Encryption Algorithm , who conduct their own investigations.

Cash rewards of up to $1,000 are given upon verified reports from law enforcement that We Tip information was received and was helpful in arrest and conviction.

Working in cooperation with KNX Newsradio, L.A. Cellular and We Tip are able to secure the public's help with unsolved crimes. KNX Newsradio is supporting the new program within the context of news reports about unsolved crimes.

Founded more than 22 years ago, We Tip originally started as a citizen's self-help group self-help group, nonprofessional organization formed by people with a common problem or situation, for the purpose of pooling resources, gathering information, and offering mutual support, services, or care.  to eliminate drug dealers, but quickly expanded to take information on all major crimes. We Tip has aided law enforcement in more than 11,000 arrests of major criminals, with more than 5,000 cases resulting in convictions.
