The pitch: Criminal Lovers is a grim fairy tale fairy tale

Simple narrative typically of folk origin dealing with supernatural beings. Fairy tales may be written or told for the amusement of children or may have a more sophisticated narrative containing supernatural or obviously improbable events, scenes, and personages
: A straight couple, Regnier (The Dreamlife of Angels) and Renier, commit a murder and head into the woods, where they fall prey to a menacing hunter with sexual designs on the boy. Water Drops, based on an early play by late gay filmmaker Rainer Werner Fassbinder, is about a young student (Zidi) who moves in with an elder businessman (Giraudeau).

The reason we care: The openly gay Ozon--who tosses together gay and straight sex, violence, and shack effects with abandon--is a director on the verge On the Verge (or The Geography of Yearning) is a play written by Eric Overmyer. It makes extensive use of esoteric language and pop culture references from the late nineteenth century to 1955. .
