Services Agency (PSA (Professional Services Automation) An information system designed to organize, track and manage all opportunities, work, resources, costs, revenues and invoices to improve the productivity and efficiency of the workforce. ) has standardized on Business Objects. PSA is an independent entity within the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA CSOSA Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency ), a federal agency committed to increasing public safety by preventing crime, reducing recidivism recidivism: see criminology. , and supporting the fair administration of justice in the District of Columbia.

PSA has served the nation's capital for more than 30 years, and has long been a leader in the D.C. criminal justice system. PSA is nationally recognized for its pretrial drug testing and innovative supervision and treatment programs. In its mission, PSA honors the presumption of innocence A principle that requires the government to prove the guilt of a criminal defendant and relieves the defendant of any burden to prove his or her innocence.

The presumption of innocence, an ancient tenet of Criminal Law, is actually a misnomer. According to the U.S.
and enhances public safety by formulating recommendations that support the least restrictive and most effective non-financial release determinations, and by providing community supervision for defendants that promotes court appearance and public safety and addresses social issues that contribute to crime.

PSA assists judicial officers in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia The Superior Court of the District of Columbia hears cases involving crimes and civil law. The court also handles specialized cases in the following areas: family court, landlord and tenant, probate, tax, and traffic offenses.  and the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in making bail decisions. PSA assesses defendants' risk to return to court and to engage in criminal activity and recommends conditions of release that correspond to an individual's level of risk. Defendants are assigned to Pretrial Services Officers (PSO PSO - Oracle Parallel Server ) for supervision based on their risk level. Mental health and substance abuse treatment and other social services are provided to defendants in need. For additional information about PSA, please visit www.dcpsa.gov.

Crystal Reports(R), the industry standard in reporting solutions, enables PSA to more effectively manage cases of criminal defendants released into the community pending trial. Additionally, Crystal Reports is integrated into the D.C. criminal justice community's Justice Information System (JUSTIS JUSTIS Joint Uniform Services Technical Information System
JUSTIS JUMPS Standard Terminal Input System
) portal. In conjunction with Crystal Reports, the Pretrial Real-time Information System Manager (PRISM) enables the PSO to assess, supervise, and track a defendant's progress throughout the pretrial period. When defendants appear in court for their bail hearing, PSA uses Crystal Reports to provide the judge, prosecutor, and defense attorney an assessment of the individual's criminal history and community ties accompanied by a recommendation about the level of supervision and treatment, e.g. substance abuse, that person may require. After the appropriate release conditions and a court date are set, PSA uses Crystal Reports to ensure individuals follow their release conditions. Crystal Reports allows PSA case managers to generate reports through PRISM and track defendants' progress through supervision, treatment and social service programs; review results of mandatory drug tests; and determine if defendants appear for court dates. For example, case managers can follow an individual's participation in substance abuse counseling by running reports on attendance to drug treatment sessions.

In addition to facilitating the daily administration of justice in D.C., Crystal Reports benefits developers and IT administrators at PSA. Crystal Reports allows IT administrators to export files in different formats and easily schedule reports for distribution. With Crystal Reports, PSA can effortlessly share information among PSA, CSOSA, and various criminal justice and law enforcement agencies A law enforcement agency (LEA) is a term used to describe any agency which enforces the law. This may be a local or state police, federal agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) or the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). . Because Crystal Reports features open APIs, developers have been able to simply integrate Crystal Reports into PRISM and other enterprise applications.

Information stored in PRISM supports criminal justice and law enforcement agencies in D.C. and surrounding jurisdictions. Authorized personnel access PRISM through the JUSTIS portal, developed by the DC Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC CJCC Criminal Justice Coordinating Council
CJCC Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center
CJCC Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee
) in 2001. With PSA approval, agencies may obtain reports generated by Crystal Reports through JUSTIS. For example, in determining whether to file charges against an arrestee ARRESTEE, law of Scotland. He in whose hands a debt, or property in his possession, has been arrested by a regular arrestment. If, in contempt of the arrestment, he shall make payment of the sum, or deliver the goods arrested to the common debtor, he is not only liable criminally for , a prosecutor can generate a criminal history report from PRISM to support that office's decision-making process.
