Crime study is on course.


CRIME drama fans can learn the basics of forensic science The application of scientific knowledge and methodology to legal problems and criminal investigations.

Sometimes called simply forensics, forensic science encompasses many different fields of science, including anthropology, biology, chemistry, engineering, genetics,
 as a Tyneside college is launching a new course.

Newcastle College's forensic science course is a part-time evening class aimed at adults who either want to progress onto further study or who just have an interest in the subject.

The course, which starts next April and runs for 10 weeks, includes the basics of forensics, DNA analysis DNA analysis Any technique used to analyze genes and DNA. See Chromosome walking, DNA fingerprinting, Footprinting, In situ hybridization, Jeffries' probe, Jumping libraries, PCR, RFLP analysis, Southern blot hybridization.  and criminal psychology. There are also opportunities to progress to the next step on the route to studying forensic science through the college's one year access course and degree level qualifications.
