Crime pays as new film starts shoot; TELEVISION.


FILMING of a TV movie by an Irish crime novelist begins in Ireland today Ireland Today was a literary magazine that ran from June, 1936 to March, 1938. It was edited by Frank O’Connor and published work by many emerging and established Irish writers of the time, including Brian Coffey, Daniel Corkery, Denis Devlin, Michael MacLaverty, Ewart .

Shooting starts on the Galway coast for the first episode of The Guards.

The film based on a novel by Ken Bruen is about a disgraced ex-cop.

He was booted out of the force after physically assaulting an influential politician.

Jack turns to a new career as a private eye where his investigations to find a missing girl uncovers the seedy underbelly of Galway city.

Galway-born Bruen has published seven novels in the Jack Taylor series to date.
