Crime of compassion; your letters.Byline: FIONA FIONA Fluorescence Imaging with One Nanometer Accuracy FIONA Frankfurt Interbank Overnight Average PARKER ONCE again the British judicial system fails the British people. Evil Abdelbaset Al Megrahi has spent just eight years in prison for the deaths of 270 people and now the stupid Government allows him to walk free and return to his family. Something his victims will never be able to do. This evil man should have stayed in prison until he died. Dave Croucher, Doncaster CAN I just tell you how utterly disgusted I am that the Scottish Government has released the Lockerbie bomber. Where was the mercy for all of his victims and their families? This is yet another reason for the world to laugh at this country. When Ian Huntley gets sick in prison will we release him too on compassionate grounds? Lee Scott, Hull THE decision to free the Lockerbie mass murderer is a terrible insult to the memory of his innocent victims and their families and loved ones. Christine Grahame has made no secret she thinks Megrahi is innocent of the bombings and he has always protested his innocence. Maybe this will show terrorists we are a civilised country and want justice to prevail. As a nation we have respect for others and the power of forgiveness regardless of their religion, politics or colour. Sharon Pickering Epsom, Surrey I DON'T believe the release of Megrahi is anything to do with oil or politics. American families of victims will be upset but Scottish families lost loved ones too. For that reason Kenny MacAskill must be basing his decision on compassion. There is so little left of it in this world. Peter Ryecroft, Essex WE are the laughing stock of the world. Now Megrahi has been released from prison and has returned to Libya what's the betting his health will improve. Ronnie Biggs showed no remorse when he returned to Britain for free NHS NHS abbr. National Health Service NHS (in Britain) National Health Service treatment. People come here and get away with murder. The BIG issue MANY readers are outraged by Scottish Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill's decision to release Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi on compassionate grounds, after just eight years in jail - but the move has some support... |
