Miki Falls: Summer continues the story arc that began in Miki Falls: Spring (reviewed in KLIATT, July 2007). Miki Yoshida is a high school senior who falls for Hiro Sakurai, the mysterious new guy in town. Miki soon learns that Hiro is a Deliverer, a quasi-celestial being entrusted with ensuring that love doesn't die out on Earth. Since there's only so much love to go around, it's Hiro's job to act as a kind of Cupid, beginning and ending love affairs on the sly. Hiro brings Miki with him on his rounds, which shows a remarkable lack of judgment; given Miki's personality it's only a matter of time before she decides to interfere. To make matters worse, Reika, one of Hiro's fellow Deliverers, tells Miki to cut off the relationship: friendships between Deliverers and human beings are forbidden. Surprisingly, Miki takes her advice and stops talking to Noun 1. talking to - a lengthy rebuke; "a good lecture was my father's idea of discipline"; "the teacher gave him a talking to"
