Cricket starlets show their true colours.BAMBURGH Bamburgh (băm`bərə), village, Northumberland, NE England, on the North Sea. It was the capital of ancient Bernicia and for a time of Northumbria. In the 6th cent. a castle was erected above a tall cliff on the site of a Roman fort. Cricket Club was the venue for an exhibition of youth cricket as nine under-11 teams from across Northumberland showed off their talents. All participating teams were decked out in coloured clothing for the event, which was centred around creating the right atmosphere to play the game. There was no overall winner or trophy to play for, but each game was played in a competitive fashion. North Northumberland Community Cricket Coach Stephen Boyd, who helped with the organisation and running of the day, was delighted with the success of the day, which will next be held in 2011. He said: "I have to give a big thanks to all the players and coaches who came up and made this such a worthwhile experience. The Alnmouth, Alnwick and Warkworth teams all benefitted from a full day's play after a season of frustration with limited fixtures in their North Northumberland League The North Northumberland Football League is a football competition based in England and at over 100 years old it is one of the longest established amateur leagues in the country. . The Alnmouth side, one of the strongest on the day, featured players who have benefitted from county and district coaching this year in addition to their regular club practices.
