Cricket: Younis falls short again.

YOUNIS Khan Mohammad Younus Khan (Urdu/Pashto: محمد یونس خان), (born November 29, 1977 in Mardan, North-West Frontier Province, Pakistan) is a Pakistani cricketer and member of the Pakistan national cricket team since  fell agonisingly short of a double century for the second time in the series as Pakistan and India drew the highest-scoring match in Test history yesterday.

With no real prospect of a positive result on the final day's play in Fais-alabad, long-standing records and individual feats came to the fore, with Younis leading the way in both with a massive hundred.

But seeking to banish the painful memory of being run-out for 199 in the first Test in Lahore, Younis again got within touching distance of a double century before falling six runs short after being adjudged lbw to Rudra Pratap Singh.

Younis' wicket was one of five that fell for just two runs late on as Pakistan, who were without the missing Inzamam-ul-Haq and Shoaib Malik, slumped from 488 for four to 490 all out in their second innings.

Captain Inzamam was injured and unable to bat while Malik was away due to the death of his father.

India then reached 21 without loss in their second innings before the two sides settled for the second high-scoring draw of the series.

The final match tally of 1,702 runs smashed the previous record of 1,585 runs set by New Zealand New Zealand (zē`lənd), island country (2005 est. pop. 4,035,000), 104,454 sq mi (270,534 sq km), in the S Pacific Ocean, over 1,000 mi (1,600 km) SE of Australia. Another record to fall was that of the most sixes in a Test match, with the 27 recorded here comfortably eclipsing the 23 sixes made by England and New Zealand in Christchurch in 2002.
