Cricket: The Ashes: 'Dropper' Jones so relieved.

SIMON JONES Simon Jones may refer to:

 feared he had cost England any chance of winning the Ashes when he dropped Michael Kasprowicz Michael Scott Kasprowicz (born 10 February 1972 in Brisbane, Queensland) is an Australian cricketer.

He is a right arm fast bowler, effective outfielder and useful lower order batsman, and has enjoyed a successful career both in Australia and in the English county scene
 with Australia needing only 15 runs to win.

Jones, fielding at third man, got both hands to a thick edge off Freddie Flintoff but put it down.

He said: "Edgbaston is a difficult ground to see the ball on and I struggled to pick it up. It is a catch that I normally take so I was gutted to put it down.

"I just went back and thought I would have to try harder but it was a tough chance.

"I was almost hoping the next one would not come my way. But seriously, you have just got to learn to deal with it.

"When I went back to the boundary the crowd did not give me any abuse and they were just trying to gee me up."

Jones was fined 20 per cent of his match fee for giving Aussie opener Matthew Hayden Matthew Lawrence Hayden (born 29 October, 1971 in Kingaroy, Queensland to Laurence and Moya Hayden) is an Australian and Queensland cricketer.
