CRICKET: Kumar Sangakarra scored an unbeaten 170 to help Sri Lanka Sri Lanka (srē läng`kə) [Sinhalese,=resplendent land], formerly Ceylon, ancient Taprobane, officially Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, island republic (2005 est. pop.  reach 385 for five wickets at tea on the second day of the Second Test in Colombo today.

Resuming on 154-1 having bowled out Bangladesh for just 62, Sri Lanka added a further 231 runs during the first two sessions to extend their lead to 323.

Sangakkara began the day on 51 and progressed smoothly to a 13th Test century, reaching three figures with a straight six before passing 150 for the eighth time in his career.

The 29-year-old left-hander had faced 290 balls, hitting 18 fours and two sixes in his 170.

Sangakkara added 128 for the second wicket with Malinda Warnapura Basnayake Shalith Malinda Warnapura (born 26 May 1979 in Colombo, Sri Lanka) is a Sri Lankan cricketer. He is a left-handed batsman and right-arm off-break bowler. Making his first class debut in 1998/99, Warnapura didn't play international cricket for Sri Lanka until 2007.  (82), who missed out on a maiden century after top-edging an attempted pull stroke.

Bangladesh's fortunes changed in the afternoon as Mahela Jayawardene Denagamage Proboth Mahela de Silva Jayawardene, known as Mahela Jayawardene, born 27 May, 1977, is the Captain of the Sri Lankan cricket team. He is a specialist batsman who has a Test average of nearly 50, and an ODI average in the 30s.  (49), Chamara Silva (33) and Tillakaratne Dilshan (0) were all dismissed.
