Cricket: Ricky Ponts Aussies in the right direction.

AUSTRALIA captain Ricky Ponting Ricky Thomas Ponting (born December 19 1974, in Launceston, Tasmania) is an Australian cricketer and current captain of the Australia national cricket team (for both One-Day International and Test cricket).  insists that today's NatWest Series NatWest Series is an annual one day international cricket tournament held in England involving the home side and two of the season's touring teams.

A series of usually nine matches are played across England at the seven test match grounds; Lord's, London, Edgbaston,
Final with England at Lord's will not turn into a grudge match. Ponting watched from the wicket during Tuesday's day-nighter at Edgbaston when England paceman Simon Jones Simon Jones may refer to:
  • Simon Jones (actor) (born 1950), British actor (played Arthur Dent in the BBC Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio and TV-series)
  • Simon Jones (cricketer) (born 1978), Welsh cricketer who plays for England
and Aussie batsman Matthew Hayden were involved in a flare-up.

Jones struck Hayden in the chest with the ball after trying to throw the stumps down and the former Northants player reacted angrily.

Then Hayden exchanged words with all-rounder Paul Collingwood and Ponting had to calm down his team-mate before umpires David Shepherd and Billy Bowden spoke to Jones and England captain Michael Vaughan.

But Ponting is adamant this will not be the start of open warfare before the five-Test Ashes series gets under way in just under three weeks.

Ponting said: 'There was that one little incident in the game on Tuesday and there has been talk about there being bad blood between the sides.

'If you take that one incident out, the other games between the teams have been played in a great spirit.

'I would expect exactly the same on Saturday. It's Australia-England in a final at Lord's.

'It's going to be a tough, hard-fought game of cricket, as simple as that, but there will be nothing carried over from the other night
