THERE will be more than just inter-county pride at stake when Lancashire and Yorkshire go head to head in the first of two Origin clashes at JJB Stadium The stadium

The Yorkshire side seem to have had the more injury-troubled preparation having lost Bradford forward Stuart Fielden and Hull half-back Richard Horne. Warrington's in-form prop Nick Fozzard is in the frame to to start at prop.

Most pundits agree that Millward's Lancashire look stronger on paper and they are sure to start as bookies' favourites but these Roses clashes have a history of throwing up surprise results.

Millward is taking the `favourites' tag with a pinch of salt.

He said: ``There's going to be a lot of pride at stake out there and I'm expecting a really tough encounter.

``You've got to remember there are Test jumpers up for grabs so there will be no holding back.''

The second Origin game takes place at Headingley, Leeds next Tuesday (ko 8pm).
