for Saturday's NatWest Series NatWest Series is an annual one day international cricket tournament held in England involving the home side and two of the season's touring teams.

A series of usually nine matches are played across England at the seven test match grounds; Lord's, London, Edgbaston,

One-day captain Vaughan was back in form with his highest score for England this summer -a fine 83 which helped secure victory with 11 overs to spare after being set a modest 199.

-after conceding 19 in his first over -and a century stand between himself and Lancashire's Andrew Flintoff sealed the win in front of a 21,000 crowd.

Vaughan said: ``The way we beat South Africa is the impressive part and if we play to 90 per cent of the way we performed at Edgbaston then we will have a chance of winning the final.

``For us to restrict them to 198 on that wicket, having gone for 19 in the first over of the game, was a superb effort.

``But everyone knows that Saturday is a brand new day. South Africa are a very good team and we know they will fight back.

``They've got a lot of experienced guys in their dressing room and they will be saying: `We lost this one but if we beat them on Saturday then this will be forgotten.''' Flintoff provided the momentum with 54 off only 40 balls. He andVaughan came together with England tottering at 30-3 and added exactly 100 in 17 overs.

Vaughan said: ``Andrew is playing well. He missed the two Tests with Zimbabwe and came into the one-day series full of confidence after scoring loads of runs for Lancashire. ``He has taken that on into this series and is hitting the ball in good areas. He is a good man to have in your team.

``The character James Anderson showed after conceding 19 runs in his first over was superb. He does it time and time again and it amazes me. It was a tremendous effort.''

South Africa skipper Graeme Smith pulled no punches, saying: ``We played badly. Maybe we were a bit loose with the batting and we lacked a plan with our bowling.''
