Cricket: Flintoff defiant; SPORTS ROUND-UP.


CRICKET: Andrew Flintoff stamped his own mark on the England team as they flew out for the first leg of a hotly-anticipated Ashes winter by declaring: "I am not a stand-in captain".

He has played for England in 76 Test matches and 123 One-day Internationals. , Andrew Strauss and Flintoff have all answered the call in the last 12 months.

Flintoff insists this is his England team now, declaring: "I have been given the captaincy for this trip. I am not a stand-in. I am taking the side out there and I am going to captain them."
