Cricket: County go for Dodge.


FORMER Stratford chairman John Dodge has been elected Warwickshire's new cricket committee chairman.

Dodge has become only the third non-first-class player in Warwickshire's history to hold the senior position and the first since Neil Houghton, now the county's chairman, in 1990.

The Cumbrian, who played club cricket Club cricket is a mainly amateur, but still formal, form of the sport of cricket, usually involving teams playing in competitions at weekends or in the evening. There is a great deal of variation in game format although the Laws of Cricket are always observed.  for Stratford, Sutton Coldfield Sutton Coldfield, city (1991 pop. 102,572), Birmingham metropolitan district, central England. The city is a residential suburb of Birmingham with a metal products industry and a large television transmitting station.  and Harborne, succeeds John Claughton who resigned in January because of teaching commitments.

Dodge, who was Stratford's chairman from 1996 to 2002, is currently chairman of the Warwickshire Cricket Board and chairman of the Warwickshire Supporters' Association.
