The company has been notified by Noranda Inc. that for corporate reasons, it has elected to discontinue its participation to earn 70% of the project. "We are delighted to have regained 100% of the Roros project. Last year, prior to our merger, Crew tried to acquire 50% of the project from Mindex ASA Asa (ā`sə), in the Bible, king of Judah, son and successor of Abijah. He was a good king, zealous in his extirpation of idols. When Baasha of Israel took Ramah (a few miles N of Jerusalem), Asa bought the help of Benhadad of Damascus and , but Noranda was farther along in the bidding process. We were impressed that Mindex, a small exploration company, could recognize new potential in a historical European mining district. We are anticipating the results of this year's program, and we look forward to advancing this exciting project," said John Darch. In the fall of 1999, Crew and Noranda embarked on the initial phase of applying modern exploration technology to the historical Roros copper mining district, with an airborne geophysical survey Geophysical survey refers to the systematic collection of geophysical data for spatial studies. Geophysical surveys may use a great variety of sensing instruments, and data may be collected from above or below the Earth's surface or from aerial or marine platforms. . This survey generated many anomalous signatures, which in turn defined numerous new targets. The summer 2000 exploration program was conducted in areas near Roros, Holtalen and Meraker. It comprised detailed ground geophysical surveys in a few selected targets, supported by deep soil sampling and detailed geological mapping. The company is currently awaiting assay results in order to compile and study the data. This data constitutes the first stage of ongoing regional exploration, and it will provide a solid base for the definition of new drill targets in the Roros district. Project Background The Roros mining district produced copper for over 300 years, until 1977 when production was terminated. Throughout this time, mining focused on copper even though the zinc content in the Roros mines was equal or often much higher than that of copper. Zinc rich portions of the former mines and prospects were avoided due to lack of modern flotation technology. In 1998, Mindex started to investigate the zinc potential in this area. The company claimed all prospects and most of the former producing mines located within a 3,000 square kilometer area covering the Roros and the Meraker districts. All accessible prospects and old mines were visited, sampled and studied, and a detailed geophysical ground survey was also conducted over a selected number of targets.
