WX (short for Women Executives in Real Estate) was selected to reflect the members, who, in general, tend to be senior level executives in the firms where they work. "The universe of women executives in commercial real estate has grown over the last decade and we know that WX plays an important role in supporting the careers of many of the industry's leaders," Harcourt said. WX, which is a 14-year-old group, is not affiliated with the national organization. Industry officials admit, however, that part of the impetus for the name change was growing confusion between the two groups, and another industry group, the Association of Real Estate Women or AREW.
