Crest of a wave; MARK THOMAS TRUST THE POST.

Byline: MARK THOMAS This article is about the anarchist comedian. For the football player, see Mark Thomas (football player).

Mark Clifford Thomas (born 11 April, 1963) is an English comedian, presenter, political activist and reporter from south London.

IT HAS been a great week for the River Mersey
See also Mersey River (Tasmania) and Mersey River (Nova Scotia).
The River Mersey is a river in north west England. It is 70 miles (112 km) long, stretching from Stockport, Greater Manchester, and ending at Liverpool Bay, Merseyside.
, I am sure you will agree, with first the Saga Rose cruise ship, then the Royal Navy flagship Ark Royal at the waterfront, and yesterday the Grand Princess.

The ships provided fantastic photo opportunities both in the newspaper and online, and from your calls and e-mails it seems you cannot get enough of these ships.

Mr Eric Moore Eric Moore is a former Australian rules football player who played in the VFL between 1966 and 1972 for the Richmond Football Club and then from mid-1972 until mid-1973 for the South Melbourne Football Club.  emailed us to say how much he had enjoyed our online picture galleries of the ships.

He writes: "I had been looking forward to viewing the Ark Royal for myself, but due to illness was unable to make it down to the waterfront. However, your picture gallery online and videos eased my disappointment somewhat.

More of the same when the Tall Ships come in, please."

There are few hotter dinner table topics these days than global warming global warming, the gradual increase of the temperature of the earth's lower atmosphere as a result of the increase in greenhouse gases since the Industrial Revolution.  - if you will pardon the pun - and last week Dr David Bellamy David J. Bellamy OBE (born 18 January 1933) is an English botanist, author, broadcaster, environmental campaigner, and a global warming sceptic. Background
Bellamy was born in London. He was brought up as a strict Baptist.
waded into the issue in an interview which appeared in Saturday's Day Six supplement.

Dr Bellamy announced himself as a global warming heretic and said he was proud to be so.

Unsurprisingly, this provoked a response from local Green Party members including Cllrs John Coyne
This article is about the Canadian barrister and politician. For other uses, see John Coyne (disambiguation).

John Coyne (July 21 1836 - November 16 1873) was a Canadian barrister, and Peel County's first representative in the Ontario Legislature.
and Sarah Jennings, of St Michaels Ward.

They write: "David Bellamy is to be admired for his enthusiasm, knowledge and obvious love of nature. However, his denial of climate change and his opposition to power sources that might prove an alternative to increased fossil fuel production, such as wind farms, are a double whammy which leaves him justifiably out on a limb.

"The global scientific consensus is that climate change is real and it is here with us already. Those that choose to deny overwhelming scientific evidence increasingly look like members of the Flat Earth Society."

However, not everyone disagreed with David. Jeremy Simms, of Aigburth, emailed us to say: "How refreshing to hear a dissenting voice amid the global warming chorus. I have yet to fully make up my own mind on this matter, but it is good to see the Daily Post allowing a public figure to put forward an opposing theory."

You may have spotted in your newsagent our latest special supplement, Portrait of Wirral, by Daily Post feature writer David Charters and acclaimed photographer Stephen Shakeshaft.

The 28-page supplement has only been on sale for a week, and we have already had a number of calls and letters from pleased readers. Mike Kelly, of Ainsdale, is one of them. He writes: "Portrait of Wirral is a refreshing piece of writing and photography.

"This supplement made me realise what is missing from the Capital of Culture project.

It is the portrayal of the lives of the people of Liverpool and the Wirral. To see photos and read about the people as they go about their everyday lives is very refreshing. This I feel is what culture is all about, showing the world what is on both sides of the River Mersey."
