Crescent holds LEED ready contractor workshop.The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, provides a suite of standards for environmentally sustainable construction. (LEED) Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED gives building owners and operators the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their buildings' performance. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality. The goal of this Workshop is to educate attendees on the importance of becoming a "LEED Ready Contractor" as the construction industry has shifted to Sustainability Design. The Workshop will consist of an introduction to green building, overview of the industry, sustainable design principles and concepts, provide a detail outline of the Contractors requirements. This is accomplished by guiding participants through the use of the LEED project checklist, illustrating a model of a LEED Ready Contractor, the contractor's specific roles and responsibilities when undertaking a LEED project and discussing the LEED documentation process on a LEED Project. They demonstrate that LEED is easily procured by setting appropriate goals and a plan for meeting those goals. They illustrate what a LEED ready contractor is.
