As a strategic vendor to Xerox, Creo supplies Spire color servers to drive the Xerox DocuColor(R) 2000 series, DocuColor 6060 and DocuColor iGen3(TM) digital production presses, delivering market-leading efficiency, flexibility, speed, quality and variable information (VI) capabilities. Xerox DigiPath Production Software scans and prepares documents that can be edited prior to printing on these systems. It can manage both content and job programming, giving digital print providers a consistent, standards-based document workflow they can configure and customize from end to end.

As part of the growing strategic partnership between Xerox and Creo, Xerox recently disclosed its Production Print Interface to Creo to allow for tighter integration between Spire color servers and the DigiPath system. This integration involves automatic conversion of DigiPath programming to the Spire job ticket. It increases the efficiency of the entire workflow by focusing all operator activity on a single point of job entry/control. It also positions Spire to help commercial printers transition to digital printing by providing a hybrid solution that works with both commercial print and digital printing workflows.

The Spire/DigiPath workflow gives access to a range of important applications that are essential to successfully entering digital printing. For example, DigiPath Production Software extends the Spire workflow to encompass scanning, make-ready, digital storage, web viewing, and web submission. It also leverages the versatility of the Spire, expanding its value to digital printers who already use DigiPath. Commercial printers can use these tools to expand their current offerings, becoming "one-stop" print shops that can offer both offset and digital printing services. This reinforces Creo's commitment to offer customers complete solutions in digital printing and demonstrates the commitment of both Creo and Xerox to integrate their respective workflows.

"We are pleased to work with Xerox on the DigiPath workflow," said Ronen Cohen cohen

, corporate vice president, digital printing, Creo. "Together we are anticipating future market needs, improving the way Spire fits into multiple print environments, and building a complete solution that will work in today's demanding economy."

"This integration signals a new, deeper Xerox commitment to standards-based open systems that will help us to better leverage our relationships with industry leaders like Creo," said Gil Hatch, president, Production Systems Group, Xerox. "It is a perfect fit with our strategy of working more closely with third-parties to provide intimate, seamless integrations across a wide variety of customer environments that give print providers more control of their workflows."
