Creo Launches New Spire CXP8000 Color Server for Xerox DocuColor 8000 Digital Press.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Creo Inc. (NASDAQ:CREO)(TSX:CRE) announces the latest addition to the Spire(TM) color server family, the Spire CXP8000 color server. This powerful on-demand printing solution has been designed for the newest Xerox color digital printer, the DocuColor 8000 Digital Press, a highly productive, 80 page-per-minute device that is ideally suited for commercial printers who are adding digital printing to their business.

Based on unique Creo technology, the Spire CXP8000 color server incorporates Spire's newest features such as comprehensive variable information support, special features for the production workflow environment, sophisticated color management tools, expanded document printing capabilities, and a friendly user interface.

The Spire CXP8000 color server unites offset and digital printing in a seamless, automatic workflow through a unique connection with the Creo Brisque(R) and Prinergy(R) prepress workflow systems. This connection allows greater connectivity in the digital printing environment with less room for error and faster turnaround times. The Spire color server connects directly with the Brisque workflow. Using the Spire Direct Connectivity Kit, Brisque users can set job parameters and impose jobs on the Brisque for use in a Spire digital print job. The Prinergy workflow links with the Spire via Xerox's FreeFlow(TM) Print Manager and fully supports job ticketing from Prinergy.

The Spire CXP8000 color server enables plug-and-play connections with JDF-supported systems for reduced costs, streamlined workflows and improved quality. This capability was first shown by Creo at drupa 2004 in a technology demonstration with the Press-Sense iWay Prime print management and workflow software solution.

Xerox DocuColor Availability

The Xerox DocuColor 8000 digital press is the latest model in the DocuColor product line, providing high quality digital color print at speeds of up to 80 pages per minute. In North America, Creo resells the DocuColor 8000 digital printer, as well as the DocuColor 3535, 5252, and 6060 digital color presses. Creo supports Xerox exclusively worldwide with Spire color servers for the DocuColor digital presses and the iGen3.

The Spire CXP8000 color server will debut at Graph Expo at the Creo booth, #4006, October 10-13, 2004, in Chicago.
