Creganna Launches Meridian Technology, Rapid Design Tool.

* Faster and More Efficient Design of Metal Delivery Shafts

* New Technology Launched at MD&M Conference & Exhibition, Anaheim, CA

GALWAY, Ireland & ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Creganna launched Meridian Meridian (mərĭd`ēən), city (1990 pop. 41,036), seat of Lauderdale co., E Miss., near the Ala. line; settled 1831, inc. 1860.  Technology today at the industry's premiere conference and exhibition, MD&M West at Anaheim, CA. Meridian Technology is a design tool, that enables development engineers design delivery systems faster and more efficiently than ever. Meridian is facilitated by Finite Element Analysis Finite element analysis (FEA) is a computer simulation technique used in engineering analysis. It uses a numerical technique called the finite element method (FEM). There are many finite element software packages, both free and proprietary.  to enable design engineers rapidly find the optimum metal shaft design for their product application.

The powerful Meridian database and design tool is the output of an eighteen month R&D program at Creganna. The objective of the program was to develop a software solution that would enable product designers to find the optimum cut geometry for a metal shaft rapidly and cost effectively. Complex cut geomotries enable metal shaft designs for flexibility, torque transmission and resistance to external compression.

"Meridian Technology defines a new era in the design of metal delivery shafts," said Michael Howe Michael Howe was a bushranger in Van Diemen's Land (now Tasmania).

Howe was born at Pontefract, Yorkshire, England, in 1787. He served two years on a merchant vessel at Hull before deserting to join the navy as a seaman.
, Manager of the Creganna Innovation Centre. "We have virtually eliminated the design bottleneck A lessening of throughput. It often refers to networks that are overloaded, which is caused by the inability of the hardware and transmission lines to support the traffic. It can also refer to a mismatch inside the computer where slower-speed peripheral buses and devices prevent the CPU  that is associated with the traditional iterative design Iterative design is a design methodology based on a cyclic process of prototyping, testing, analyzing, and refining a work in progress. In iterative design, interaction with the designed system is used as a form of research for informing and evolving a project, as successive  cycle of prototyping and testing. With Meridian, the design engineer simply defines his/her performance requirements, Creganna consult the Meridian database and output a cut geometry that meets exact specifications. The time and cost savings associated with the Meridian Technology approach are enormous."

Head of the Meridian Technology development program at Creganna, Dr. Alan McKiernan said "Meridian Technology harnesses the power of Finite Element Analysis and translates it directly into a language understood by all design engineers - physical prototypes of metal shafts that are manufactured within days of order and meet performance requirements."

The R&D program to develop Meridian Technology is the subject of a technical feature in the January/February 2008 edition of Medical Device Technology, a Canon Publication.

Meridian Technology is now available to the market.

Components and sub-assemblies in a range of metals, polymers and composite materials composite material or composite, any material made from at least two discrete substances, such as concrete. Many materials are produced as composites, such as the fiberglass-reinforced plastics used for automobile bodies and boat hulls, but the  are provided. Creganna is a trusted supplier to the world's leading medical device manufacturers. The company has manufacturing facilities in Galway, Ireland and Marlborough, Massachusetts Marlborough is a city in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 36,255 at the 2000 census. The name of this town is sometimes spelled as Marlboro, rather than Marlborough, which is the official spelling. .
