NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 5, 1998--Standard & Poor's today assigned its triple-'Bpi' (Good) insurer financial strength rating to Credit General Insurance Co.

Credit General Insurance is licensed in 44 states. The company's principal lines of business include alternative risk workers' compensation workers' compensation, payment by employers for some part of the cost of injuries, or in some cases of occupational diseases, received by employees in the course of their work. , contractors' general liability, and surety An individual who undertakes an obligation to pay a sum of money or to perform some duty or promise for another in the event that person fails to act.

The following factors were incorporated in the rating of triple-'Bpi'.

The ratings do not reflect in-depth meetings with an insurer's management and are therefore based on less comprehensive information than ratings without a pi subscript. Pi ratings are reviewed annually based on a new year's financial statements, but may be reviewed on an interim basis if a major event that may affect the insurer's financial security occurs. Ratings with a pi subscript are not subject to potential CreditWatch listings.
