Credibility, straight talk earn Motorola exec an EXCEL Award: IABC committee says Stu Reed seems to live and breathe communication.

Reed joined Motorola in April 2005 with a mission to transform the company's supply chain into a competitive advantage. Prior to that, he spent more than 20 years at IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries) , capping his career there as vice president of worldwide manufacturing for IBM's integrated supply chain. In this role, he was responsible for all hardware and software manufacturing Software manufacturing is the process of producing software in ways similar to the manufacturing of tangible goods. In this way of conducting business, each copy of the software is priced and sold as though it was a tangible product.  and engineering for the US$96.5 billion company. Reed served as a key thought leader and implementer among a team of senior executives who transformed IBM's supply chain operations over five years.

At Motorola, Reed has been instrumental in coordinating a vast network of operations, customer fulfillment centers, logistics providers and manufacturing to provide products and services to the company's three main business units. He has been responsible for integrating communication among ISC's 36,000 employees and contractors, who represent more than one-third of Motorola's overall population. During 2005 and 2006, ISC set quarterly records for production and distribution, helping Motorola meet an expanding worldwide demand and grow revenue and production output. At the same time, the organization underwent a massive transformation that condensed con·dense
