flexibility to start-up card issuers

LAS VEGAS Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States. , Nev.--September 27, 1999--Credentia, a Datacard Group company, today introduced Preface(TM) ID software at the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS 1. Designed specifically for start-up identity information programs with fundamental needs, Preface ID software provides the core tools for designing cards, entering data, capturing images and printing full-color plastic cards. The software operates on the popular Windows(R) 98 and Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking. (R) platforms.

"Card issuers with simple requirements may not need elaborate software packages, but they do need to operate from an easy-to-use platform they can trust," said Eric Freudenheim, vice president of product marketing for Credentia. "We designed Preface ID software on this very premise. It offers essential functionality and utmost dependability from an intuitive, entry-level application."

The software offers a choice between creating a new card design or choosing an existing sample format to revise multiple card formats. Users can quickly and easily add text and full-color graphics to one or both sides of a card, and can modify text fonts, size, color and justification to personalize their cards. Preface ID software also features bar code and magnetic stripe A small length of magnetic tape adhered to credit cards, badges, permits, passes and tokens. The tape is read by magnetic stripe readers incorporated into ATMs, identification readers and payment terminals.  encoding capabilities, works with TWAIN-compatible input devices and is fully compatible with most industry-leading card printers.

"We configured Preface ID software so that card issuers can install the software and begin designing and printing cards in a matter of minutes A Matter of Minutes is an episode from the television series The New Twilight Zone. Cast

Freudenheim, Preface ID software also enables easy migration to more advanced Credentia ID software packages. "The card formats and images created with Preface ID software can also be accessed through our ID Works(TM) and ViaNet(TM) software families," Freudenheim said. "This makes upgrades fast and affordable the moment a program is ready to expand.

"We are truly excited about this introduction, because it directly addresses the ID software needs of an entry-level segment that has been traditionally overlooked," Freudenheim said. "Users will discover the same ease-of-use and reliability with Preface ID software that continue to make Credentia the brand of choice for ID software."
